No-touch wildlife
No touching, riding, feeding, chasing or repositioning marine life. No gloves for contact. Distance and patience over the photograph.
Ocean impact
Pillar 4 — Ocean Connection — is not a sentiment. It is a set of commitments a Mindful Diving Center™ makes, applies on every dive and reports on each year.
No touching, riding, feeding, chasing or repositioning marine life. No gloves for contact. Distance and patience over the photograph.
Buoyancy checked before reef contact is possible, mooring or drift entries over anchoring on coral, group sizes kept small enough to supervise, and briefings that name the site's fragile species.
No single-use plastic on boats or in classrooms, refill stations for divers and staff, and reef-safe sun protection required before entry.
Each commitment is evidenced at assessment and reviewed annually. A center that cannot show it does not carry it.
Centers report two things side by side: human flourishing, through the FP20 Fundamental Peace scale and the other validated instruments of the research programme; and ocean stewardship actions — clean-up participation, reef surveys contributed, single-use plastic removed, wildlife-interaction incidents recorded honestly. Both sets are anonymised and published once a year, whatever they show.
Read the research programmeMindful Diving™ has no conservation partnerships to announce. We would like to. If you run a marine conservation, citizen-science or reef-restoration organisation and see a fit with a network of divers trained in attention, write to us — we are looking for collaborators, not logos.
Write to the InstituteThis page makes no claim about carbon, no claim about reefs saved and no claim about partnerships that do not exist. Diving has a footprint — travel most of all — and mindfulness does not cancel it. What a standard can do is set floors, verify them and publish the results.
